Lot 929.  Iron Stirrup. English Viking, X-XI Century AD. Found in the East Riding of Yorkshire along the battle route of the Battle of Stamford Bridge. Iron stirrup with twisted strap-ring and flat foot plate on raised tread. 6 high. Choice for iron. LMMC.23.4 cf also BM Guide Anglo Saxon Antiq. 110 cf. Type used by Vikings and Saxons in 1066.
