Description
BRUTTIUM, Lokroi Epizephyrioi. AR Tetradrachm (13.01 gm; 28 mm). Copy by Carl Wilhelm Becker (1772-1830). Time of Pyrrhos of Epeiros, circa 281-272 BC. Head of Zeus to left, wearing oak wreath; thunderbolt behind / Dione seated left, holding sceptre in right hand, raising veil with left; ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to right, ΠΥΡΡΟΥ to left, A in exergue. Hill, Becker the Counterfeiter 57. Ex Jonathan K. Kern Collection, Classical Numismatic Group, E-Auction 419, 25 August 2018, lot 605. Superb style. Well struck on a nice broad flan. Choice Superb. Nice old cabinet toning. Very rare.
