|Lot 210. Parthian Kingdom. Phraates II. 132-127 B.C. AR drachm (18 mm, 3.98 g, 12 h). Mithradatkart. Diademed and draped bust of Phraates II left; behind, MI / Archer seated right on omphalos, holding bow; guidelines in legend. Sellwood -; Shore 46 (same obv. die). Small ding in obverse field. Good very fine.
The Shore specimen did not have a clear image of the letters behind Phraates' head. Sellwood 16.6 (which is referenced by Shore) has NI behind the head. Our coin clearly shows the letters as MI, implicting the mint is Mithradatkart rather than Nisa.
Estimate: US$ 100
