Ionia, Ephesos. Ca. 180-67 B.C. AR cistophoric tetradrachm (25 mm, 12.61 g, 1 h). CY 51 (84/3 B.C.). Serpent emerging from cista mystica with lid ajar; all within ivy wreath / EΦE , bow case between two serpents; above, Hermes standing facing, head left, holding wreath and caduceus; in left field, date (NA); in right field, lighted torch. Kleiner 52; Pinder 41; SNG von Aulock 7853; SNG Copenhagen 328-9; BMC 163. Lightly toned. Good very fine.
