C. Fundanius. 101 B.C. AR denarius (18 mm, 3.87 g, 6 h). Rome. Head of Roma right, wearing winged helmet; behind, · C / C · FVNDAN in exergue, Triumphator (Marius?), holding scepter and laurel branch, driving walking quadriga right; a youth, holding a laurel branch, rides the nearest horse. Crawford 326/1; Sydenham 583; Fundania 1. Toned, banker's mark on obverse. Very fine.

Sear (RSC) notes this type relates "to the expedition of Marius against the Cimbri and his subsequent triumph with Teutobodus, king of the Teutones, a prisoner adorning the event in B.C. 101."
