Obverse: ROMA behind head of Roma right, in winged helmet
Reverse: Warrior on horseback charging left, holding spear and shield, Q above, TORQVA in exergue.
Attribution: Crawford 295/1
Grade: Very Fine
Weight: 3.84 grs.
Measure: 20.04 mm.
Notes:
This moneyer honors his ancestor T. Manlius Imperiosus Torquatus who killed a Gaulish warrior, took the torque of his victim and placed it around his own neck as a trophy of his victory. He received the name Torquatus because of his feat of bravery.
