A choice Maya cylinder from the Ulua Valley of Honduras, c. 400 – 800 AD. This beautiful corseted vase is 7” high, 5” in diameter and is decorated with a series of circular designs painted against a black background, which typically signifies an Underworld motif. Surrounding this panel are registers featuring deity heads, executed in the style characteristic of the type. In exceptional condition, with vivid paint and strong mineral deposits.
