Description
ARAB-SASANIAN, Farrukhzad, Year 104. "GLSTN"(GULISTAN) mint. Æ FALS (3.19 gm; 23 mm). Obverse, Khosrau II style bust turning right, Pahliv legend GDH and Apzut behind the crown on the left, two line legend "PLHWZ(A)T Y/ GWShN(A)NWShAN" (FARROXZAAD SON OF GOWSHAN-NOUSH), reverse, fire altar with attendnats, star and crescent on both sides of flame, date 104 on the left, mint name "GLSTN" (GULISTAN) which is an area in present day eastern Afghanistan -south of Herat- and part of the province/district of Farah. Gyselen Type 53. Brown reddish patina. Choice Good VF. Of highest rarity in Arab-Sasanian series.
