The Kushans were part of a nomadic tribe known to the Chinese as the Yuezhi (or Yueh-chi). They then expanded to encompass much of Baktria and the northern part of the Indian subcontinent.
This early type was issued by the Yueh-Chi before they established the Kushan empire.
