Lot 235.  Maximinus I 'Thrax'. A.D. 235-238. AR denarius (19 mm, 3.56 g, 12 h). Rome, A.D. 236/7. MAXIMINVS PIVS AVG GERM, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Maximinus I right / P-ROVIDE-NTIA AVG, Providentia standing facing, head left, holding wand over globe and cornucopiae. RIC 20; BMC 170; RSC 75. Lightly toned with strong contrasting luster in the recesses, high relief portrait. An exceptional example. Choice extremely fine.
