Lot 110.  TABERISTAN. Umar ibn Aala, (771-782 AD), Year 125. Silver Hemidrachm (1.98 gm; 24 mm). Crowned Sasanian bust to the right, name Omar-ibn Ala in Pahlavi in front of the face, Arabic name Umar ibn in the 3rd quarter margin and Ala on the second quarter margin on the 3rd quarter and Pahlavi phrase APD on the second quarter. Reverse; fire altar with attendants, mint TPURSTAN (Tabaristan) on the right, date: 125, The period coincides with reign of 2nd Abbasid Khalif; Al Manusr (754-775 AD). Lovely strike on a nice broad medallic flan. Choice FDC. Fully lustrous.
