Lot 145.  ILKHANS of PERSIA, possibly Sultan Mohammad Khodabandeh also known as Uljaytu (Oljaitu). reign from 1304-1316 AD. Folus (4.20 gm; 22 mm). Obverse: geometric and decorative pattern with dots and circles, reverse: duck walking left with a decorative tail in the shape of club. Extremely rare design. Duck appears in many Sasanian motifs for seals and fabrics, Uljaytu was highly interested in revival of many Sasanian traditions during his reign and this design might be one of them. No mint or date, possibly unpublished. Original find patina. Choice VF.
