MYSIA, Lampsacus. Julius Caesar. Circa 45 BC. Æ (7.17 gm; 21 mm). Q. Lucretius and L. Pontius, duoviri. Female head right, wearing grain wreath. countermark C/C. Q LVCRET L PONT IIVIR COL DED PR, Female figure standing left, holding cornucopia and extending hand over urn to left. RPC I 2271. Extremely rare, with just one specimen cited in RPC. Good VF, attractive red and brown patina with good surfaces. See CNG 365, Lot: 273 for comparison. (Rough example sold $ 475 plus fees, not nearly as nice as this one!) No examples recorded with this countermark. Extremely rare. (RYC)
