Description
An excellent Cocle vase from Panama, c. 600 – 800 AD. This Conte style vessel is 10-1/4” high and is decorated with abstract designs representing boa ovals, each containing a creature. Rare intact example, with vivid paint and strong mineral deposits. Cf. Helms “Creations of the Rainbow Serpent”, page 6, for similar piece from Miami’s Lowe Museum. Ex Coury estate.
