Description
NORWAY. Tonsbergs. 1973. AV Medal (31mm - 25 g). Issued to celebrate the 1100th anniversary of Tonsbergs, the oldest town in Norway. Copying a penny of Eirik II Magnusson, the first coin struck in Tonsbergs bewteen 1280 and 1285. Struck in 90% gold, this medal contains .723 oz. of gold, $1015 at $1400/oz gold. As issued in original box, this is number 1739 in a series of 1800. Lot also includes a Proof example struck in .925 silver that weighs 20 grams, or .595 oz. of silver, or $20 at $35/oz silver. Housed in its original issue case. Unnumbered but a limited edition of 5000 pieces. Two (2) medals in lot.
