Description
Phoenicia, Tyre. 126 B.C.-A.D 65 AR shekel (30 mm, 14.14 g, 1 h). CY 29 (98/7 B.C.). Laureate bust of Melkart right / TYPIOY IEPAΣ KAI AΣYΛOY, eagle standing left on prow, palm over far wing; in left field, date (ΘΚ) above club; in right field, monogram; between legs, aleph. Cf. BMC 115 (monogram); DCA Suppl. 73 (same dies as illus.). Light deposits on obverse, porosity on reverse, slight polishing on cheek. Nearly extremely fine.
