Description
Ptolemaic Kingdom. Arsinöe II, wife of Ptolemy II. Died 270 B.C. AV mnaieon (octodrachm) (27 mm, 27.69 g, 12 h). Alexandria, under Ptolemy VI-VIII, ca. 180-116 B.C. Diademed and veiled head of Arsinöe II right; in background, lotus-tipped scepter; in left field, K / APΣINOHΣ ΦIΛAΔEΛΦOY, double cornucopiae bound with fillet. Svoronos 1242, 1374, and 1498-9; SNG Copenhagen 321-2. Two shallow dents in the obverse field, a couple of edge nicks. Good very fine.
