Description

Cilicia, Nagidos. Ca. 400-385/4 B.C. AR stater. Aphrodite seated left, holding phiale over altar to left; behind, Eros standing left, crowning her with wreath / ΝΑΓΙΔΕ[Ω]-Ν, Dionysos standing facing, head left, holding grape bunch on vine and thyrsos. Casabonne type 4; Lederer 25 (same dies); SNG France -; SNG Levante -; BMC 12 (same dies). Perfectly centered for these. Typical obverse die-break and very light die rust for the issue. Light peripheral iridescent toning. Extremely fine.

Comes with a ticket from E. Waddell noting that it was lot 9 in one of his sales, but we have been unable to determine which sale it came from.
