TABERISTAN, Daadborzmehr, (722-731 AD). AR Hemidrachm (2.03 gm; 23 mm). Obverse; Sasanian bust to the right, name in Pahlavi in front of face, phrase APD in Pahlavi in the second quarter. Reverse: fire altar with attendants, mint “TPURSTAN (Tabaristan)” on the right, date: 87 (Scarce year) with a dot on the 6 oclock star typical of the reign. The period coincides with reign of 10th Umayyad Khalif; Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik (724-743 AD). Choice Superb. Lightly toned.
