Description
Ca. 2nd century B.C. BI karshapana (15 mm, 3.4 g). Five punches, including a human figure holding a water pot and staff / Caduceus symbol. Gupta & Hardaker, Punchmarked Coinage of the Indian Subcontinent, Series VIb, no. 566. An attractive specimen with old patina. Nearly very fine .
This is considered to be the earliest depiction of Lord Shiva, in his Mahakal form.
