Description
SELEUKID KINGS of SYRIA. Seleukos I. 312-280 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.10 gm; 27 mm). Ekbatana mint. Struck in the name of Alexander III of Macedon, circa 311-295 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress / Zeus seated left, holding eagle and sceptre; monogram in left field, horse grazing left at Zeus' feet, monogram under throne. SC 202.3; ESM 446; Price 3902. Lovely style. Well struck from high relief dies. Choice EF. Toned.
