Description
MESOPOTAMIA, Nisibis. Philip I Arab AD. 244-249. Æ (11.50 gm; 25 mm). Radiate and cuirassed bust left, seen from the back, holding spear and decorated shield / Tyche of Nisibis seated facing within tetrastyle temple; above, her, ram (Aries) leaping to right; below, river-god swimming to right. Cf. BMC 25 and 23 (obv./rev.); SNG Copenhagen -; SNG Hunterian -; SNG Righetti 2620. Original reddish and green patina. Choice Good VF.
