BYZANTINE EMPIRE. Nicephorus III Botaniates, 1078-1081 AD. Æ (5.23 gm; 26 mm). Facing bust of Christ, with decorated nimbus, wearing pallium and colobium, holding Book of Gospels with both hands; in field, IC – XC. Rev. Latin cross ending with three globules at each extremity; at centre, X and at base, floral ornaments. DO class I; Sear 1889. Nice original reddish and green patina. Choice Superb EF. Lovely example for this issue. Rare this nice.
