Description
SASANIAN KINGS, Shapur II. 302-379 AD. Æ (2.02 gm; 17 mm). Obverse, Shapur's bust turning right, Fravahar symbol (rendition deteriorated to a symbol similar to Greek letter "Pie") in front of face, reverse, stand alone fire altar, with Faravahar symbols in place of usual attendants, sun and the moon on either sides of flame. Struck on abroad flan. Reddish patina. Choice VF. Of highest rarity among Shapur II series.
