Description
BYZANTINE EMPIRE; Michael VII, Ducas. 1071–1078 AD. Æ Follis (5.83 gm; 26 mm). Facing bust of Christ wearing tunic and himation, cross behind head, right hand raised in benediction and left holding book of Gospels; in field, IC–XC and two six-rayed stars. Rev. Half figure of Michael facing, wearing loros and crown with cross and pendilia, and holding labarum and globe surmounted by pelleted cross. DO 14a; Sear 1878. Choice VF. Original green patina. Rare with star on obverse field.
