SASANIAN KINGS; Shapur I, 240-272 AD. Gold Dinar (7.24 gm; 23 mm). Obverse standard portrait turning right with standard merlon crown with earflap over the ear. Reverse; Fire altar with attendants wearing mural crowns. Sunrise 739; SNS type IIc/1b, style P, group b (pl. 30, 126); Gobl type I/1; Paruck 64; Saeedi AV4. Excellent design and strike with full details of the attendants clothing and armor guarding the fire altar. Lovely style. Well struck on a nice broad flan. Choice Superb with some luster. Extremely rare
