Description
SASANIAN KINGS; Yazdgird II, 438-457 AD. Æ (1.18 gm; 17 mm). Obverse, Yazdgird's bust turning right, symbol similar to two halves of an egg in front of face, reverse, fire altar with attendants. "It is possible that the two halves of egg refer to heaven and underworld. Indo-European legends makes references to gods being born in halves of eggs. Such mythology had greater influence in Hellenic world than the Persian world". Choice VF. Original find patina. Extremely rare.
