Description
BYZANTINE EMPIRE. Nicephorus III, 1078-1081 AD. Æ Follis (4.18 gm; 27 mm). Facing bust of Christ, with decorated nimbus, wearing pallium and colobium, holding Book of Gospels with both hands; in field, IC – XC. Rev. Latin cross ending with three globules at each extremity; at centre, X and at base, floral ornaments. DO class I; Sear 1889. Well struck on a nice flan. Reddish patina. Choice Good VF.
