Description
SELEUKID KINGS of SYRIA. Seleukos I Nikator. 312-281 BC. AR Hemidrachm (1.87 gm; 13 mm). Susa mint. Struck circa 305/4-295 BC. Head of hero (Alexander or Seleukos?) right, wearing helmet covered with panther skin and adorned with the ear and horns of a bull / Nike standing right, erecting trophy; monograms to lower left and between. Cf. SC 174.1 var. (monogram between); Cf. ESMS S-15 var. Minor pitting on edge on reverse, otherwise well struck. Choice EF. Lightly toned. Very rare.
