Description
KINGS of BAKTRIA. Eukratides I. circa 171-145 BC. AR Drachm (4.28 gm; 21 mm). Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Eukratides I right, wearing crested helmet adorned with bull's horn and ear. Reverse: BAΣIΛEΩΣ MEΓAΛOY above, EYKPATIΔOY in exergue, the Dioskouroi, holding palm branches and spears, on horses rearing right; to lower right, monogram. Bopearachchi 7G; HGC 12, 136. Sharply struck on a nice broad medallic flan. Fine style. Perfectly centered. Choice FDC. Lightly toned. Exceptional quality for this type.
