Description
SASANIAN KINGS; Shapur I. 240-270 AD. Æ Tetradrachm (15.75 gm; 29 mm). Obverse, Shapur with standard crown and ear flap, reverse, fire altar with attendants. Extremely rare due to type of crown with earflap which are far more rare than those without earflap. Exact opposite happens in silver drachms of Shapur I. Well struck on a nice broad flan. Well centered. Original reddish patina. Choice VF. Very rare.
