ABBASID CALIPHS, Al-Mahdi, 775-785 AD. Æ (2.42 gm; 18 mm). Obv: shahadah, reverse, Shahadah for Prophet Mohammad, followed by "al-Khalif al- Mahdi" (badly deteriorated), mint and date not legible. Original patina. Choice EF. Excellent condition for the type which also is a rare design.
