George B. Cornish. Original Vintage "WAH-SHUN-GAH. KAW CHIEF" Photograph. George B. Cornish - Western Photographer - Copyright 1909. Vintage, sepia tone, double-weight, 8 inch x 5 3/4 inch photograph. Stamped on the back "Cherokee Strip Living Museum. PO Box 230. Arkansas City, Kansas 67005". George B. Cornish (1867-1946) was known for his portraits and scenes from the American West, including Native Americans and ranchers. He was a protégé of the well-known Western American photographer William Prettyman (1858-1932). Cornish inherited Prettyman's studio in Arkansas City, Kansas in 1905, which he operated until his death in 1946. Excellent condition.
