SASANIAN KINGS, Kavad I, first reign, 488-496 AD. AR Hemiobol (0.38 gm; 12 mm). Standard issue, mint: AS (Aspanvar, Asuristan, Aspahan), no date. Bust of Kavad I right, wearing mural crown with frontal crescent, two ribbons, and korymbos set on crescent, ribbons and crescents on shoulders, star (degraded) behind head, trefoil of pellets or degraded letters to right, star-in-crescents in margin / Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants, star and crescent flanking flames. SNS type Ib/1A, Göbl type II/1; Paruck -; Saeedi -; Sunrise 964. Struck on a nice broad flan. Choice VF. Rare.
