ABBASID CALIPHS, al-Mahdi, 775-785 AD. Æ Fals (2.26 gm; 17 mm). Obverse, al-Khalifah al-Mahdi, amir-al-mo'menin, mint "Istaxr", year 167. Superb and full strike for the type. Extremely rare this well preserved. Choice EF. Nicely centered. Original red patina.
