Description
SELEUKID EMPIRE, Seleukos I Nikator. 312-281 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.93 gm; 24 mm). Susa mint. Struck circa 300-295 BC. Head of hero (Alexander or Seleukos?) right, wearing helmet covered with panther skin and adorned with the ear and horns of a bull / Nike standing right erecting trophy; AX in lower field between Nike and trophy. Cf. SC 173.11; ESMS 54 (A40/P6); Sunrise 174 Var. Nicely centered. Minor hairline scratch on obverse field, otherwise well struck on a good metal. Choice aEF.
