Description
TURKO-HEPHTALITES, Nezak Huns. Vasu Deva. Circa AD 720. AR Drachm (3.05 gm; 33 mm). Zabulistan / Sistan mint. Bust right, wearing crown with two wings surmounted by lion's head / Fire altar with ribbon; two attendants flanking; star and crescent flanking flames; Göbl, Dokumente, Em. 244 (Sahi Tigin); Sunrise 1037var. Small gold insert on the neck at 6. This was customary practice of piercing and inserting gold in the ancient times (for unknown reasons). Well struck on a nice broad flan. Choice EF. Lightly toned.
