Description
SASANIAN KINGS, Yazdgird I, 399-420 AD. Æ (1.68 gm; 17 mm). Obverse, Yazdgird's bust with standard crown turning left, phrase in Pahlavi "Sh(a)MS" in front of face, reverse, fire altar at the center with 8 radiating Iris flowers (Flower of Persia) around it. Phrase "Sh(a)MS" is an Arabic word for Sun. Well struck on a nice broad flan. Original find patina. Choice VF. Rare.
