SASANIAN KINGS, Ardashir I, (AD 223/4-240). AR Hemidrachm (2.09 gm; 20 mm). Mint C (“Ctesiphon”). Phase 3, circa AD 233-239. Bust right, wearing diadem (type R) and close-fitting headdress with korymbos and no earflaps; ≥ behind head and on left shoulder / Fire altar (flames 2) with diadems (type G). SNS type IIIa(4a)/3a(2b); Göbl type III/2/2; Saeedi -; Sunrise 717. Well struck on a broad flan. Choice Good VF. Lightly toned. Rare.
