Description
ARAB-SASANIAN: time of 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan. AR Silver Drachm, Khusru type, SK (Sakastan), c. AH 70-79. Obverse: Bearded bust of king right, wearing winged crown, Pahlavi legend at left and right, all within double ruled circular border broken by crown, decorative crescent-and-stars at the three cardinal points, Arabic legend in outer margin: rabbi and bismillah. Arabic word at top right. Reverse: Fire altar with facing attendants, no star and crescent flanking the altar flames, blundered date at left, mintmark SK (for Sakastan or Sijistan) at right, all within triple border with crescent-and-stars at the four cardinal points. (3.75gm, 31mm) Near Extremely Fine & Very Rare.
