Description
ABBASID: Musa Ibn Yahya Al-Barmaki, Silver qandhari Dirham, Al-Sind, AH 216-221. Obverse "la ilaha illa Allah al-malik al-haqq muhammad rasulu Allah musa" ("there is no god except Allah, the King, the Truth, Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, Musa"). Reverse "al-imam abi ishaq amir al-mu'minin barmaki" ("the Imam, Abu Ishaq (Abbasid caliph Al-Mu'tasim Billah), Commander of the Faithful, Barmaki"). The first of the Barmakid family line to rule Al-Sind on behalf of the Abbasids, Musa Ibn Yahya Al-Barmaki was appointed as governor of Al-Sind in AH 216 by the governor of Khurasan Ghassan Ibn 'Abbad.
