AR Drachm, Arab-Sasanian type, citing governor al-Muhallab ibn Abi Sufra (AH 75-79 / AD 694-698), BYŠ (Bishapur) minted, AH 76! Dated. Draped bust resembling Khosrau II to right, wearing an elaborate mural crown; behind head, 'GDE / ʾp̄zwt'' ('[may his] glory increase' in Pahlavi); before head, 'mwhʾlp' Y / ʾbwcwplʾʾn' ('al-Muhallab son of Abu Sufra' in Pahlavi); in the outer margin, 'bism Allāh' ('In the name of Allah' in Arabic). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; above altar, star and crescent; to left, date in Pahlavi; to right, BYŠ (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi).
