Description
LOKRIS, Lokri Opuntii. Circa 360-350 BC. AR Tetradrachm (11.61 gm; 21 mm). Head of Persephone left, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple-pendant earring, and pearl necklace / ΟΠΟΝΤΙΩΝ Ajax, nude but for crested Corinthian helmet, holding sword in right hand, shield on left arm, advancing right on rocks. H&D Group 13, 124k (O14A/R39); BCD Lokris 57; HGC 4, 992; SNG Berry 573. Minor ding on reverse field at 10 o'clock otherwise, well struck in high relief. Choice Good VF. Nice old cabinet toning.
