Description
TABERISTAN. Said ibn Da'laj, (771-782 AD). AR hemidrachm (2.01 gm; 22 mm). Obverse: Sasanian bust to the right, name Omar in Pahlavi in front of the face, phrase “ARS” (Ar(u)s? Meaning Stunning?, admired?) or Arun(?-per Pakzadian) on the 3rd quarter and Pahlavi phrase APD on the second quarter. Reverse; fire altar with attendants, mint TPURSTAN (Tabaristan) on the right, date: 127 Choice FDC. Lightly toned. Fully lustrous.
