BYZANTINE EMPIRE, Manuel I Comnenus. 1167-1183 AD. Billon Aspron Trachy (3.04 gm; 30 mm). Constantinople mint. IC-XC, Christ bearded and nimbate, wearing tunic and kolobion, seated upon throne without back: holds Gospels in left hand. Dot in each limb of nimbus cross. No stars / Manuel on the left, holding labarum and cross on globe, being crowned by Mary, both standing facing; Θ to right of Mary. Three jewels on emperor's loros between waist and collar piece, loros waist has dots pellets in diagonal cross arrangement, collar has 3 jewels. Sear 1966; Dumbarton Oaks Collection IV 13.c.
