Zangid of Shahrazur: 'Imad al-Din Zangi b. Arslanshah, circa AH 616-632 / AD 1219-1234, AV Gold Dinar, Madinat Shahrazur mint, dated AH 630 / AD 1232-3, the ruler's name is written as 'Imad al-Dunya wa'l-Din Atabek Zangi bin Arslan shah, without overlord (the name of the Begteginid ruler has only been removed in last years), citing Abbasid Caliph al-Mustansir billah. (2.54gm, 26mm), Good Fine & Very Rare.
Shahrazur is a fertile plain in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and is probably derived from two Iranian words: shah (king) and razur (forest); hence Sharazur meaning kingly forest (royal forest).
