Description
ARAB-SASANIAN, Hajjaj ibn Yusof. AH 75-95 (694-713 AD). Æ (0.31 gm; 14 mm). Obverse, Sasanian bust in the style of Khosrau II, name on Kufic in front of face, Shahadah with symbols in the outer ring, reverse, standing figure (possibly standing Khalif) with raised right arm and open hand in gesture of invitation, phrase in Pahlavi "Pylwch, (victorious) followed by the name of Hajjaj ibn Yusof, triple dots below the open hand and single dot above the open hand, Gyselen Type 79. Minor flan crack, otherwise well struck. Choice EF. Original find patina. Extremely rare.
