Description
PERSIA, Safavid to Qajar period. A Negative gem/seal set on a custom made Silver ring. (Ring size 9 1/2). Shia poem in admiration of 3rd and highly venerated Imam Hossein (3rd Shia Imam) who raised the flag of revolution against the Umayyad imperial power and was killed in the battle of Karbala doing so.The poem states: Nadidam javani behaan payravi (Translation: did not see a young man that I can follow); Bovad noor-e cheshm-e (prophet) Mohammad o (imam) Ali, translation: except the one (Hossein) who was the light in the eyes of Prophet Mohammad (Hossein grandfather) and Imam Ali (Hossein’s father). Superb calligraphy and excellent condition. Very rare. Excellent condition.
