Description
Indo Parthian: Margiana or Sogdiana, AR Drachm, pseudo countermark type. Curiously, this coin was designed following a prototype Parthian drachm which was countermarked with the head of an Indo-Greek ruler; it is known that in the area of production, Parthian drachms predominantly circulated with such local countermarks. The "countermark" on this coin was struck with the same die as the rest of the design. (2.19gm, 18mm), Very Fine. Toned. Scarce.
