THRACE, Anchialus. Gordian III with Tranquillina. 238-244 AD. Æ (9.55 gm; 25 mm). Obv: AVT K M ANT ΓOPΔIANOC AVΓ C[.]B / TPANKVΛΛINA. Draped busts of Gordian, laureate and cuirassed, and Tranquillina, wearing stephane, facing one another. Rev: OVΛΠIANωN AΓXIAΛ / ΕωN. City gate, with two towers, open doorway and two pinnacles. RPC VII.2 - (unassigned; ID 70890); AMNG 681; Varbanov 755-6. Well struck on a full flan. Choice aEF. Nice original patina.
